FAQ
How can I order cards?
Currently we have three different ways to place orders.
You can order cards directly online and fill out the online order form(s) and email us your images afterwards.
Alternatively you can email us your order and we will get in touch with you to confirm that we have received it and to arrange the payment of the deposit to commence the design.
You are also welcome to visit our office in Louisburgh and Westport to discuss your ideas of the design in person. We would ask you to arrange and appointment prior visiting our office to ensure our full attention.
Orders sent in by post are also accepted.
How can I pay for my order?
Payments can be made by card, paypal, bank transfer, cash or by cheque.
Online orders need to be paid in full by card or PayPal at the time of ordering.
Payment plans with Klarna are also available on our website.
If ordered by email, post or in person we would ask for a deposit of €100 to commence the design. The remaining balance will be due after approving the design to commence the printing of the order.
How many photos can I use?
Depending on the type of card you can use as many images as you wish of your loved one without having it looking too busy. Additionally to the images of the person you can use one or two images for the background. The deceased can be featured in the background or it could be a landscape, hobby or object of significance to your loved one, such as a specific type of flower, sport etc. If you cannot find a suitable background image, please tell us what you are looking for and we will do our best to find a suitable photo in our vast image library.
Can I use photos taken with a mobile phone?
We always recommend to use images with a high quality and where the deceased is clearly visible. Mobile phone pictures taken in dark areas can be of a lower quality. But most images taken with modern phones are suitable to be used for the cards.
We highly recommend, if your loved one was photographed by a professional photographer, i.e. at a wedding or similar event or during a portrait shoot, to ask the photographer to send you a high res jpeg. These photos are often used as the main photo of the deceased as they are often the clearest one and well posed.
Similar criteria goes for analogue photos. The clearer the better.
If you decide to scan the photo yourself, please scan them at 600dpi and save them at high res jpeg. We do however offer free scanning service, if you have no access to a scanner.
Do I have to use the verses supplied on this website?
No. The verses on the website are just a little help to find a suitable one for your loved one. You can alter any verse to your specifications or simply send us your own verses or prayers. As mentioned in our business name; our memorial cards are all bespoke and 100% customised. Every order starts with a blank canvas. Pictures, verses and even sizes and folding layouts are all changeable.
How long does it take to get my cards delivered?
On average please allow us up to three days from receiving the order until you receive the first draft of the card(s) by email.
Once the layout(s) are approved by you it will take about two or three weeks, depending on the card type, to get the cards printed and delivered to your address.
During busy seasons between October and December it might take a little longer, but we will inform you about any disruption in advance.
If you have an urgent order, we offer our Priority Service, where we skip several queues in the design and printing stages to have the cards delivered to you within a week from the approval of the card design.
I have noticed a typo on the finished cards. Can I have a
re-print?
While we take our upmost care to spell check every order, typos are human errors and will occur at some stage in time. As the content is provided by you and draft(s) have been approved by you, we cannot be made responsible for any re-print costs.
In the case of a re-print, we will offer it at a reduced price to cover the printing costs.
We really recommend getting the draft proof read by you and at least one more person. The more eyes the better the chance spotting any errors.
Can I re-order more cards after I have received my order?
Yes. We will keep the artwork on file for at least 5 years. While it is more cost effective to order more cards at the beginning, we can offer to print additional cards afterwards at a reduced price.
Can I include extra metal colours to the design?
Unfortunately no. We only offer to print our cards in CMYK and no extra Pantone metal effect colours. But we can provide a gold/silver effect look alike, printed in full colour CMYK.
What are the best options for personalised memorial thank you cards that reflect Irish traditions and can be easily customised for my loved one's remembrance?
Instead of browsing through hundreds of pre-designed card templates and still not finding the right design that suits your loved one, we always start with a blank canvas and design the cards 100% to the customer’s specifications.
You just tell us which verses/poems you would like to use and either send us your own background image(s) or tell us what the person liked and we will send you a draft of the card design. If there is anything you don’t like, we will change it until you are 100% satisfied with everything.
When should you get memorial cards done after the death of a loved one?
There are no written rules about when exactly you should have memorial cards done.
In Ireland, up until about the 2010’s it was very common to have thank you or acknowledgement cards done for the six week anniversary mass and memorial cards by the first year anniversary mass.
As Irish people are less religious over the past few years, this catholic custom to have the cards done within those time frames is on the decline. Although many still like to have memorial cards done for the 1 year anniversary, but more to mark the day as a remembrance of their loved one, rather than having an anniversary mass organised.
A small minority of people like to hand out memorial cards on the day of the funeral, but this compromises the quality of the cards, as most Irish funerals are held only 2 or 3 days after the death has occurred and designing, printing and finishing memorial cards to the highest standard possible takes at least a week before the customer can receive the cards.
It also puts a lot of stress onto the family of the deceased who have to find the right images and verses for the cards, approve the artwork and estimate how many cards they might need while grieving their loss and also having to deal with the actual funeral stress.
As memorial cards are steering away from the traditional religious layout to a much more personal tribute to the deceased’s life and personality, it is recommended to take some time to find the most suitable images, verses and prayers that represent the person at their best.
In some cases it can be quite hard to emotionally handle facing that difficult task and customers might need longer than the traditional one year to be able to start the process of ordering memorial cards.
In general people should not feel pressured to have cards done for a certain date.
Only when they are mentally prepared it’s the right time.
Can I create memorial cards myself?
Yes, you can send us a high res PDF of the card design you created yourself.
We will check the quality and measurements to make sure everything is to the printer’s requirements.
If you are not able to fully create the memorial cards to the printer’s specifications, you can email us the images, verses and details of your loved one with a mock-up or instructions of where everything should go and we will work to those instructions as close as possible and email you a draft of the card design from where you can request any changes, if needed. Only once you have 100% satisfied with the design we will send it to print.
